This work is part of the series Indellible Women—a multidisciplinary project that began with historical research done by human ecologist Ana María Zabala on the lives of indigenous women who had an impact on the history of Abya Yala. Upon reading the texts, visual artist Ivonne Portillo Sierra created a painting for each woman. In turn, poet Arjàn Álvarez wrote a poem inspired by each story. Finally, photographer Alba Maury took double-exposure analog photographs that superimpose images of landscapes with the images of Ivonne’s paintings, connecting these women to the land they fight for.
