Los Cerros de Mavecure son un conjunto de tres monolitos (Pajarito, Mavecure y Mono) que se elevan sobre el río Inírida, en el sureste de Colombia. Forman parte del Escudo Guayanés, una región ecológica entre las sabanas tropicales y la selva amazónica.
Según el pueblo Puinave, Inírida era una mujer de deslumbrante belleza. Un día, un hombre decidió ir a los cerros de Mavecure, donde nació el mundo, para encontrar pusana, un brebaje para enamorarla.
Cuando Inírida bebió la poción, perdió el sentido de la realidad y enloquecida consiguió escalar el cerro Pajarito, donde nadie había podido llegar. Cuando despertó de su desmayo, decidió vivir lejos de los humanos en lo alto del Pajarito y desde entonces guía la vida en los cerros de Mavecure.

The Mavecure Hills are a group of three monoliths (Pajarito, Mavecure and Mono) that rise above the Inírida River in southeastern Colombia. They are part of the Guiana Shield, the important ecological and geographic region between the tropical savannas and the Amazon rainforest.
The indigenous Puinave people tell that Inírida was the name of a woman of dazzling beauty. One day, a man decided to go to the Mavecure Hills, where the world was born, to find the perfect concoction to make her fall in love.
When Inírida drank the potion, she lost her sense of reality and managed to climb to the top of the pajarito hill where no one had been able to reach. When she woke up from her fainting spell, she decided to live far from humans on the hill and since then she guides life in the Mavecure hills.
